2022 in Rocks
From left to right:
Crinoid stems (Tennessee): Notice that the first vertical stem has a holdfast, i.e., where another crinoid wrapped itself onto it to anchor itself.
Lace banded agate/chert (Georgia): This specimen formed in concentric layers and has been polished to bring out its beauty.
Quartz crystals (Georgia): These crystals were collected on a field trip specifically organized for junior members.
Garnet sand (North Carolina): This sand comes from rocks with large garnets that were under so much pressure they deformed and cracked.
