How to Use this Site
Navigation
Menu
There is a menu to the left of the page to help you navigate from page to page. Menu items with sub-menus have a V-shaped arrow to the left. Click the arrow to expand the menu to see and access sub-menu(s). Click it again to collapse the menu.
If all of the menu items will not fit on your screen, there will be a slider on the right that you can use to scroll the menu up and down.
When you select a page, its entry on the menu is highlighted so you can see where you are in the menu structure.
You can use your browser's "back" button to return to the prior page you were viewing, or click another menu item to view another page.
When the page is small, the menu is not displayed at all times, but is still accessible by a small icon composed of three horizontal lines located in the upper left corner of the page. It still operates as described above. The menu may appear this way for the following reasons:
The website is being viewed on a phone

About the image on this page
Graves Mountain Sand
Graves Mountain in Georgia is well known for the variety of minerals that can be found there. In this single sample of sand we can see a good example of that variety. The striking blue grains are lazulite. The gold metallic bits are pyrite. The pale, blue-green bits are kyanite. The sparkling orangey-red bits are pyrophyllite. And the white is quartz. (Note: Each sand grain is about 2mm wide.)
